Volunteer Opportunity: The Honeycomb Project

WRITTEN BY ALINE FADER

In light of the recent Buell Hypothesis post, this group might be of interest…

The Honeycomb Project

It is a non-profit group (created by two lovely moms) that arranges family volunteer events where parents can participate with their children. Unfortunately for New Yorkers, it is based in Chicago, but for parents there (or parents planning an educational and fun vacation to the Windy City), this is a great program to safely introduce one’s cherished young to volunteering and educate them about various urban issues like hunger, poverty, and the natural environment. A quote from their site…

Our innovative volunteer projects make a big impact on our community and a big impression on your family. Kids of all ages learn about local issues like river health, homelessness and literacy and you get to spend quality time with your family while making our city better.
